About us

Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SAAS) is a nonprofit comprehensive agricultural scientific research institution. SAAS, established in 1960, consists of ten research institutes, an integrated service center, and an integrated test station.

SAAS possesses more than 800 employees, including over 700 professional and technical personnel. Among them, there are 69 experts with State Council Special Allowance, 17 national and local leading talents, and nearly eighty percent have a Master's or PhD degree.

Currently, research work of the academy covers a broad range of topics that have been categorized as eight priority disciplines, including grain and oilseed crop germplasm innovation and application, new variety breeding and efficient cultivation of horticultural crops, germplasm creation and industrialized production techniques for edible mushrooms, sustainable livestock and poultry farming and control of epidemic diseases, ecological agriculture and control of harmful organisms, quality and safety of agricultural products and preservation and processing technology of agricultural products, agricultural biotechnology and resource evaluation and utilization, and modern agricultural economy and digital agricultural technology.

Over the past years, SAAS has established 57 science and technology innovation platforms, and on that basis, SAAS has made more than 2000 scientific and technological achievements, won more than 400 scientific research achievement awards, including 30 national science and technology awards, published more than 300 books and 8000 scientific research papers.

Qualification and Requirements

(1) Applicants are expected to be disciplined, honest, responsible, physically and psychologically healthy and dedicated to work.

(2) Candidates should have the qualifications and working ability stipulated in the recruitment plan. For the positions and specific requirements, please refer to Annex 1.

(3) Personnel from other provinces and cities must hold a Shanghai residence permit (within the validity period). New graduates in 2023 have no residence permit requirements.

Recruitment Processes

(1) Online application

Please visit the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences recruitment system (http://rs.saas.sh.cn/product/recruit/index.jsp?FM_SYS_ID=shnky) for application. Each candidate can apply for only one position. Applications are open till April 14, 2023.

Applicants are supposed to fill in the Application Form (available via https://www.saas.sh.cn/xwzx/tzgg/content_37461). Foreign applicants please fill the attached Application Form and send your personal document to the recruitment email (renshi@saas.sh.cn) with the subject “name + applied position”.

(2) Qualification examination and interview

The candidates who have passed the qualification examination will receive an interview notice. Structured interview, practical operation, and written test will be adopted to test the professional knowledge and comprehensive ability of the candidates. Specific matters related to the interview will be notified in advance.

(3) Physical and political examination

The candidates should complete corresponding procedures within the specified time, including physical and political examinations.

(4) Recruitment Results and Announcement

The proposed list of candidates will be publicized on the recruitment website for 7 working days. If no dissents about the proposed candidates are received or the dissents do not affect the employment after verification, then the list of candidates shall be submitted to the superior department for review and record.

Salary and other matters

Once the proposed candidates are employed, their salary, bonus, welfare and social insurance shall be implemented under relevant regulations.
