Hosted by the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research (NIBIO), the IV International Symposium on Plant Cryopreservation was hold in Oslo, Norway on June 12-15. The Symposium is held every four years. 76 experts from 23 countries or regions around the world who are engaged in the plant cryopreservation participated in this symposium. The symposium focused on five main topics: "Crop biodiversity and plant genetic resources", "Cryo genebank of germplasm", "Advances in fundamental cryobiology in plant preservation", "Healthy plant materials in plant cryopreservation" and "Advances in applied cryobiology in plant preservation".

Associate Researcher Ren Li from the Institute of Agro-food Standards and Testing Technology, SAAS was invited to the symposium and made a presentation on "The biological effects of single-wall carbon nanotubes on mitochondria during plant germplasm cryopreservation". The research work of the presentation used multidisciplinary research methods to reveal the mitochondrial biological effects of single-walled carbon nanotubes in the process of improving the efficiency of cryopreservation, providing a theoretical basis for the application of nanomaterials in the field of cryopreservation, and a new exploration for the field of traditional cryopreservation space. The presentation was highly recognized by the participating experts. Some of them gave further suggestions for the development of follow-up research work.
