Delegation from Malacca State Government of Malaysia Visits SAAS
On the afternoon of January 28, Mr. Shahafeez, Consul General of Malaysia in Shanghai, led an delegation from the Malacca State Government to visit SAAS. This marked the second visit by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Shanghai following the "The 2nd Close Encounter with SAAS" event held last year. Vice President Zhao Zhihui received the delegation and presided over a symposium.
At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President Zhao extended a warm welcome to the delegation and gave an introduction to the organizational structure and scientific and technological innovation achievements of SAAS. He emphasized that China and Malaysia enjoy a long-standing friendship, and SAAS has established stable cooperative relations with many universities in Malaysia. Given the solid foundation for agricultural cooperation between the two countries, he expressed the hope that this exchange would serve as an opportunity to further expand the scope of agricultural science and technology cooperation, jointly enhance innovation capacity, and support industrial development.
YB Datuk Wira Salhah, State Financial Officer of Malacca, stated that the bilateral relations between China and Malaysia are firm, and agriculture is a key area of cooperation between the two sides. Faced with common challenges such as global climate change, food security, and renewable resources, Malacca looks forward to deepening cooperation with Chinese agricultural institutions in fields including ecological agriculture and crop breeding, introducing key technologies to improve crop stress resistance and agricultural productivity. Subsequently, researchers from Crop Breeding and Cultivation Research Institute, Eco-environment Protection Research Institute, and Smart Agriculture Research Center of SAAS delivered presentations on special maize breeding progress, rice-eel co-culture technology model, and the transformation and scenario application of smart agricultural technologies respectively. The two sides also held in-depth discussions on topics such as agricultural personnel training.
After the meeting, accompanied by staff from the Office of International Cooperation, SAAS, the delegation visited the Shanghai Soil Science and Technology Museum and the pilot platform of the National Engineering Research Center of Edible Fungi.
