Rice Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Thailand Visited SAAS
On November 5th, Mr. Arnon Noncie, Deputy Director General of the Rice Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Thailand, along with Miss Poontarika Chayakul, Agricultural Consul of the Agricultural Section of the Royal Thai Consulate-General Shanghai, and a delegation of 7 people, visited SAAS. Vice President Shen Xiaohui received the guests and held a discussion.
Shen Xiaohui welcomed the arrival of the Thai delegation and detailed the work carried out by the Institute of Edible Fungi and Mae Fah Luang University in terms of talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation in edible fungi, as well as the cooperation between the agricultural product processing team of Crop Breeding and Cultivation Research Institute and Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University. He stated that SAAS has a solid foundation for cooperation with Thai agricultural research institutions.
Arnon Noncie pointed out that rice is the most important crop in Thailand, with paddy fields accounting for half of the country's cultivated land. He expressed hope that this visit would lead to further cooperation with SAAS in the areas of rice variety breeding, agricultural product processing, and smart agriculture. He stated that the Rice Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Thailand will act as a bridge for China-Thailand agricultural cooperation, further promoting agricultural scientific research cooperation between the two countries. He also welcomed the planting and promotion of high-quality japonica rice and water-saving drought-resistant rice varieties from SAAS on Thai soil.
