On July 17th, Dr. Miguel Sierra, Innovation and Communication Manager of Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agropecuaria, Uruguay visited SAAS. Vice president Zhao Zhihui received the guests.

Vice president Zhao warmly welcomed the delegation and gave a detailed introduction to the organizational structure and scientific and technological innovation achievements of SAAS. He mentioned that Uruguay is the third largest source country for China's beef imports, and other livestock products and agricultural products, such as aquatic products, dairy products, fruits, barley, and soybeans, are also very popular in the Chinese market. There is a huge potential for cooperation between China and Uruguay in the field of agriculture. He hopes that through this meeting, both sides can have in-depth exchanges, share experiences, and find an entry point for future collaboration.

Dr. Miguel Sierra stated that this is his first visit to China, and he is deeply impressed by China's rapid development and the warm and friendly people. During this visit, he hopes to understand the progress of agricultural science and technology in Shanghai and establish a long-term and stable cooperative relationship with Chinese agricultural institutions. Subsequently, researchers from Information Research Institute of Science and Technology gave a detailed introduction to the application of plant models in facility agriculture and the research progress of key technologies for smart field production. Both sides also conducted in-depth discussions on issues such as the transformation of achievements in the field of agriculture.

In recent years, the friendly relations between China and Uruguay have been continuously developing, and a comprehensive strategic partnership has been established. Against this background, exchanges and cooperation in agricultural science and technology with Uruguay are of great significance.
