On Nov 6, 2022, Sun Xiaolin from the Eco-environment Protection Research Institute, SAAS was invited to give a presentation on technology for rice-eel farming in the "2022 Lancang-Mekong Rice-Fish Training Program". More than 80 trainees from China, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam registered to participate in the training program.

The presentation entitled "Practical Technology for Rice-eel farming", focusing on the practical technology of rice-eel farming, including rice field engineering construction, eel stocking, eel feeding, rice water and fertilizer management, pest and weed control, eel disease control and treatment, and eel fishing. After the presentation, Sun gave more detailed information on the technology of aperture opening ratio of rice-eel and the economic benefits of rice-eel farming technology.

The Lancang-Mekong River Cooperation Mechanism refers to the six countries of China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam to implement sustainable development and carry out beneficial and pragmatic dialogue and cooperation mechanisms around the Lancang-Mekong River Basin. Promoting the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation is a concrete practice of implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's initiative to build an Asian community with a shared future, and it is also a Chinese plan to promote the development and prosperity of this region. Rice-fish farming is a green agricultural production method promoted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, which is of great significance to improving agricultural efficiency and farmers' income in developing countries.
