SAAS Scientists Attended the 8th International Conference on Low Carbon Asia
The 8th International Conference on Low Carbon Asia (ICLCA), jointly organized by De La Salle University, Philippines and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, was held online on Oct. 17-19, 2022. The theme of the conference is "Sustainable Development towards Carbon Neutrality", which aims to address various challenges under the framework of sustainable development with practical actions.
Four plenary speakers, Prof. Ju Xiaotang from Hainan University, Prof. Joey D. Ocon from National University of the Philippines, Prof. Takeshi Fujiwara from Okayama University, Japan, Prof. Jiři Jaromir Klemeš from Brno University of Technology, Czech made presentations with the topics: Crop Productivity and GHG Emission in Agroecosystem, Graphical Approaches to Facilitate Low Carbon Emissions Economy, Net-Zero Emissions Energy Transition Pathway towards 100% Renewable Energy for the Philippine Archipelago and Sustainable Waste management towards Zero Carbon Emissions.
Six sessions include urban planning & smart cities, sustainable energy systems, waste & water management, agriculture & food production, methodology and cleaner technology. As the session chair, Prof. Zhou Sheng from the Eco-environment Protection Research Institute, SAAS, chaired the session of "Sustainable Agriculture & Food Production". Experts and scholars from various countries conducted heated discussions at the session. At the closing ceremony, best oral reports and excellent posters of this year were announced. Associate professor Zhang Jining, Dr. Wang Cong and Dr. Zhang Xianxian of the Eco-environment Protection Research Institute, SAAS, won the best oral report awards.
