On September 27, 2022, Dr. Tran Quang Dieu, a young scientist from the National Maize Research Institute of Vietnam, finished his visit to the CIMMYT-China Specialty Maize Research Center, Crop Breeding & Cultivation Institute, Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Cai Youming, secretary of the Party Committee and president of SAAS, awarded him the certificate of the visit.

From August 2021 to September 2022, Dr. Tran Quang Dieu carried out the research work as a visiting scholar for more than one year in CIMMYT-China Specialty Maize Research Center (CCSMRC) under the support of "Belt and Road Young Scientists" International Cooperation and exchange Project of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission. During his visit, Dr. Tran Quang Dieu actively participated in the scientific research work of CCSMRC, and carried out comprehensive cooperation and exchanges with the scientific and technological personnel of CCSMRC in the germplasm resources selection, disease resistance, breeding of new varieties, and demonstration and promotion of fresh maize. He also conducted germplasm resources screening and precise phenotype identification, mining of high-quality and disease-resistant excellent resources using the existing fresh sweet and waxy maize resources of CCSMRC and established the precise phenotype identification technology system of fresh corn. Meanwhile, Dr. Tran Quang Dieu also actively participated in the rural revitalization science and technology service work in our city, and went deep into the fields of the base with the scientific and technological personnel of the center to solve the practical production problems.

Dr. Tran Quang Dieu's visit and research exchange has promoted the substantial progress in the scientific research cooperation and talent exchange between SAAS and Vietnam, and expanded the international influence of CIMMYT-China Specialty Maize Research Center.
