On February 14th, Professor Zhou Sheng of the Eco-environmental Protection Research Institute was invited by Sumihisa Fujiwara, the minister of the Agri-Business Division of Marubeni Corporation of Japan, to visit Marubeni Corporation Shanghai. During the visit, they held an online meeting with the Headquarter of Marubeni Corporation in Tokyo for discussing further cooperation.  

The cooperation between SAAS and Marubeni was based on the strategic needs of achieving “peak carbon dioxide emissions” and “carbon neutrality” in agriculture and rural areas. The meeting topics included the carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas emission reduction technologies in agriculture field, as well as the application potential of biochar in soil. SAAS holds a leading and pioneering position in scientific research of low-carbon and circular agriculture technologies while Marubeni performs as a world-class top distributor of agricultural materials. From this perspective, the cooperation between SAAS and Marubeni would a significant attempt in facilitating the "industry-university-research-application" development mode with mutual benefits and win-win achievements.
