In order to implement the scientific research cooperation between Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Vietnam and further implement the  "One Belt One Road" strategy, the Sino-Vietnamese Science and Technology Cooperation Corn Variety International Test Matchmaking Conference organized by CIMMYT-China Specialty Maize Research Center was held in the Agricultural Bureau of Hekou, Yunnan on April 17th, 2019. Prof.  Hongjian Zheng, Prof. Jinyuan Lin and Dr. Yingxiong Hu from the Crop Research Institute, Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Tran Quang Dieu and Nguyen Thi Huyen from the National Corn Research Institute of Vietnam, Prof. Hanyong Zhu, Na Liu and Xuying Wang from Wenshan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Yunnan and more than 20 scientific and technical personnel attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Prof. Hongjian Zheng welcomed the Vietnamese experts. He said, that both SAAS and the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Vietnam have cooperated closely in breeding and application of fresh corn varieties, since the signing of the Sino-Vietnamese Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement in Shanghai last year. He hoped that both sides could further strengthen cooperation and exchange through this matchmaking meeting and would conduct international test trial of Shanghai fresh corn varieties in southern and northern Vietnam. Prof. Nguyen Xuan Thang expressed his pleasure to participate in this meeting and stated that he would fully cooperate with the development and completion of the international test trial of Shanghai fresh corn varieties in Vietnam. During the meeting, the participating researchers conducted in-depth discussions on the details of the isolation conditions, planting density and harvest time of the fresh corn varieties, and determined the specific implementation plan, which laid a good foundation of the  "One Belt One Road" strategy.
