Yangtze River Delta Institute of Rural Revitalization jointly founded by Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Anhui Academy of Agricultural Sciences was officially inaugurated in Nanjing, Jiangsu on March 7. Vice President Zhihui Zhao of SAAS attended the opening ceremony and related activities.

The establishment of Yangtze River Delta Institute of Rural Revitalization aimed to integrate the agricultural high-quality innovative resources in Yangtze River Delta region, coordinate the common policies and technical issues existing in the rural revitalization and  regional development, and  carry out think tank construction, key technology breakthrough, rural revitalization planning, typical model integration, technical support services, and talent training for San Nong. The Institute should bring into play the synergy and innovation advantages, in order to speed up and increase efficiency for the rural revitalization and development of the Yangtze River Delta and work together to build a national demonstration zone for rural revitalization.

The newly established Yangtze River Delta Institute of Rural Revitalization would implement the rotating team leader system. In the first year of rotation, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences would release 25 soft science topics in five major categories including rural industry, poverty alleviation, rural construction, science and technology support and comprehensive topics for agricultural scientists to carry out joint research. The research results would be released and displayed through the Yangtze River Delta Region Forum.

As one of the most dynamic, open and innovative regions in China, Yangtze River Delta is an important intersection of the “Belt and Road” and the Yangtze River Economic Belt and played a pivotal role in the implementation of the National Rural Revitalization Strategy. SAAS actively responded to the national strategy of regional integration in the Yangtze River Delta, actively built a regional collaborative innovative platform, implemented the rural revitalization technology support action and supported the revitalization of the Yangtze River Delta with science and technology innovation.
