Eco-environment Protection Research Institute
The Eco-environmental Protection Research Institute of Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences was formed by the merger of the former Institute of Soil and Fertilizer (Environmental Science Research Institute) and the Institute of Plant Protection in July 2002. The institute has now 62 employees, including 60 scientific and technical personnel (32 senior titles; 24 doctoral students). The institute has five research laboratories: microbial and resource recycling, pest monitoring and ecological regulation (plant protection), efficient use of nutrients and soil conservation, and water environmental restoration and environmental monitoring and pollution in low-carbon agriculture and production areas, and one technology-based enterprises belonging to “Shanghai Dongbao Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd.”. The institute has 4 technology platforms, including:“Agricultural Environment and Agricultural Land Conservation Scientific Observation Experimental Station of the Ministry of Agriculture”, “Shanghai Low Carbon Agricultural Technology Engineering Center”, “Shanghai Agricultural Environmental Protection Monitoring Station” and “Shanghai Key Laboratory of Facility Horticulture Technology” (co-construction ). The laboratory area is about 5,000 square meters, and the equipment values more than 8 million yuan. It is equipped with a fluorescence quantitative PCR instrument, a gas chromatography-mass spectrometer, a plasma emission spectrometer, a continuous flow chemical analyzer, an ion chromatograph, a liquid chromatograph, an atomic absorption spectrophotometer, etc. It has a total of more than 20 large equipments. It is member of Shanghai Soil and Fertilizer Society, Shanghai Municipal Institute of Plant Pathology and qualification certification unit of the pesticide field efficacy registration test of Ministry of Agriculture.
Based on the development of modern agriculture, combined with its own advantages, guided by green ecology and sustainable development, plant water and fertilizer, soil pollution and restoration, pest monitoring and green prevention and control, agricultural waste ecological cycle and breeding, agricultural environmental pollution monitoring and treatment, seed seedling disease detection and health evaluation, and development and application of beneficial microbial are the key research and development directions of our institute. In the past ten years, the institute has undertaken major special water projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the "Tenth Five-Year Plan", "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", the Ministry of Science and Technology Support Program, the National High Technology 863 Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the Ministry of Agriculture Industry Specialization; major and key projects of Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission and Shanghai Municipal Agricultural Commission, key projects and international cooperation research projects, etc., hosted or participated in more than 30 national, provincial and municipal scientific and technological progress awards, and obtained for more than 40 national authorized patents, 6 software copyrights, obtained 3 new varieties of rights at the municipal level. We have established long-term academic exchanges and cooperation with Canadian International Phosphorus and Potassium Research Institute, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Kobe University, Lake Biwa Environmental Research Institute, Environmental Research Institute of the Helmholtz National Research Center, University of Georgia, and Australian Federal Academy of Sciences.
